In an end of year move that surprised many Michigan Governor Rick Snyder Vetoed the state’s online gambling bill.
Michigan Online Gambling Bill Veto
It seems that the pressure from the state’s iLottery platform outweighed the potential benefits, at least for now. A few days prior to Christmas Michigan state legislature had approved a bill to regulate online gambling within the state. Online casinos have been performing well in the first few states to move forward with regulation of Internet gambling within their state borders. Michigan was set to move forward with regulation for online casino gambling but the Governor vetoed the bill just days before the new year.
Land based casinos in the state are regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. There could be some opposition from a few of the land based gambling companies but most should be on board to go online after watching New Jersey online casinos’ revenues to grow consistently and rapidly over the last 5 years.
